Love & Laundry

I recently went away on a trip. Actually, I have been traveling quite a lot lately. But on this most recent trip I came home to find my husband folding the laundry in the living room. He had spent most of the weekend preparing the kids for the cold weather, unexpected snow storm, and prepping the house and all the details for the coming week and for my arrival.

It may seem ridiculous to say that I fell in love with my husband even more at the sight of him folding the laundry. Piles and piles of it to be exact because of our large family and constant usage of our boys. But I did. First, because I myself admit to not have been contributing much at all in this area, yet my children and I are never without clean clothes, underwear or fresh smelling towels, and second because I appreciate the love and care he takes to make sure we have what we need, not only financially and emotionally, but in every way possible.

No, my husband isn’t perfect (though he is a lot closer to it then me), but in my eyes he has mastered the way to my heart. I love him not because he is a man doing laundry, but because he is such a great life partner and friend and love. Because seeing him do this little thing, like laundry, was just another way of him supporting me, being there for me, and caring for me.

Yeah, it’s a pretty big deal when anyone does it, because not everyone can do it so well. Some may laugh and think this all silly and overrated. But as someone who was once married to not such a great guy, and after my divorce having dated some other not such great guys, I’m telling you – it’s pretty special. And I don’t take for granted how lucky I am to have someone in our lives who is continuosly doing it for his family, for me in every thing he does, no matter how small – like folding the clean laundry.

Thanks to Whirlpool for making it easier for him to take care of us all.

Disclosure: This love story is part of a series of post I am writing as a Whirlpool Mom, a test-drive campaign by Mom Central Consulting on behalf of Whirlpool. I received a complimentary Whirlpool Duet washer and dryer to facilitate my review. The opinions expressed here are strictly my own.
