Wingate by Wyndham in Mechanicsburg: All a Traveling Family Needs
I can’t believe August is gone. It was fun though. Short lived, yes, but fun. What we enjoyed the most from this past month were our weekend road trips. We didn’t need to stay in very many hotels during are little getaways. Both Splish Splash Water Park and Splash Down Beach were within driving distance, so we were able to come home after our day of adventures.
However, we did stay a couple of nights near Hershey, PA. When planning our trip, we looked to Wingate by Wyndham for accommodations and with so many locations across the states, it wasn’t difficult to find one close to where we wanted to be.
We chose the Wingate by Wyndham in Mechanicsburg, PA. Though the immediate location doesn’t have very much to offer as far as major attractions go, we were able to get to Hershey Park, Chocolate World, and the Indian Echo Caverns in a few short minutes from the hotel. There are other attractions nearby that families can enjoy (you can check those out here).
The location doesn’t only offer families the ability to stay within budget and still have easy access to some great family-friendly destinations, it also offers guests a lot of the same amenities we look for when traveling with our large crew: comfortable clean rooms, great service, complimentary breakfast, free WIFI and a pool.
I even got to try out their gym early in the morning. It was clean, comfortable, and had a lot of the basic features I needed for my morning workout.
There were a lot of families there when we stayed. Breakfast, served Monday through Friday from 6:30 am to 9:30 am, Saturday and Sunday 7:00 am to 10:00 am, was definitely a popular time in the morning.
The hotel has a great selection of rooms, with the biggest being their King Suites which included, of course, a King Bed in a separate sleeping area, one Queen sofa sleeper, and a four person dinette as well as a work area, refrigerator, and microwave.
The rate for our room at the time of our stay was about $119 a night. Our room was a bit smaller – a double bed suite – but upon our requested of a roll away, the hotel staff quickly provided us one and we were pretty comfortable. We also had a refrigerator and microwave, standard in all the Mechanicsburg suites.
Though there were no in-house dining services, other than the complimentary breakfast, there are other nearby restaurants such as the Cracker Barrel located right next door where we enjoyed some light shopping and a hearty brunch.
The drive to Hershey, PA was less than 15 minutes. Other towns nearby where people like to visit most when staying at the Mechanicsburg Wingate by Wyndham are Harrisburg, Carlisle, and Gettysburg, just to name a few.
We didn’t spend much time in the hotel, and so for us it was a perfect fit. Definitely a great consideration for traveler’s looking for a comfortable, clean hotel at a great rate with friendly service to rest in after to their list of adventures outside of it.
