New Home, New Washer & Dryer from Whirlpool
About two weeks or so before we moved into our new home out of Manhattan, I got news that Mom Central Consulting selected me as one of the moms who would become a Whirlpool Mom and participate in a campaign to check out Whirlpool’s latest Duet Washer and Dryer…for keeps.
In NYC the way laundry worked was I would call someone and they would pick it up. I would call a few days later, they would charge crazy money, and then they would drop it off. Often times things got lost, or things that didn’t belong to me were found, or clothes were ruined. But, it was part of the life and we accepted, albeit begrudgingly.
But then we made the desicion to move and I became a Whirlpool Mom and a few weeks after that I got these lovely babies.
What I like About The Duet Washer & Dryer:
Well, besides them being oh-so-pretty, I love the capacity of both machines. We are a family of five, with 3 of them being boys who are forever throwing themselves in the mud, grass, everywhere. The machine has a variation of settings that can easily take me from gentle to bulky to even enhanced touch up and I love that I can change the settings even further to heavy to light dirt.
I really like the LED lights for the buttons, and the soft tone it plays to indicated changes, setting selections, and starting of each machine.
My husband really, really loves the Quick Dry cycle. He discovered this one morning when he wanted to wear a shirt that was dirty. In less than 30 minutes the shirt was washed, in less than 15 it was not only dry, but wrinkle free. Until the shirt came out of the machine, I totally doubted he would be wearing that shirt to work!
Soap Usage and Consumption:
I am still getting to know my new machines, but what I have noticed is that the washer uses a lot less soap than most standard machines, but does a darm good job at washing!
Special “OMG! I’ve never heard of such a thing!” Features:
The manual states that my machines have built-in suite of Laundry Apps which include features like Stain Assist and Hints and Tips that give practical advice on stains and other everyday laundry questions. I haven’t checked out the apps yet, but already it is clear these machines are way smarter than me if they have those solutions!
The appliances have a NSF Certification and include ‘Sanitize’ temperature settings to ensure our laundry will be 99.9% bacteria free.
As far as energy conservation, it’s too soon to tell. We haven’t gotten our electric bill since I got the machines. In my next review post however, I will make sure to share all that information and any new updates with you as well.
In the meantime you could say that I am loving doing the laundry. So far the machines are an absolute dream. Quite cycles, no worries about shrinking clothes, and so many fun features still left to discover!
Disclosure: As a Whirlpool Mom I am participating in test-drive campaign by Mom Central Consulting on behalf of Whirlpool and received a complimentary Whirlpool Duet washer and dryer to facilitate my review. The opinions expressed here are strictly my own.
