Water fun at SplashDown Beach with Bob The Builder, Fishkill, NY
We’re continuing to share our water park adventures in what has been our “Road Trip Weekends“.
The second park we’d like to feature is SplashDown Beach in Fishkill, NY. SplashDown Beach is about an hour and a half drive from NYC. Of all the parks we visited, we consider Splashdown Beach the most manageable with little ones. You can visit the entire park in just one day, but still walk away feeling like you did so much.
The highlight of the trip for my absolute youngest (4 years old) was the new Bob The Builder Splashworks water play area. It is the perfect size to be able watch your little ones from a distance and lots of water fun that they can move, climb, and play in.
As for the rest of the park, we enjoyed the family-friendliness of the environment, how clean it all was, how polite and friendly everyone we met was, and really, how quickly the lines moved and how fun the rides were.
The kids delighted in watching me go down the Cowabunga Falls, and the boys loved going down Pirate’s Plunge. Of course, we absolutely delighted in the Croc Creek Wavy Lazy River and theMonster Wave Pool.
At one point we even got to meet Bob The Builder himself! I like that the water park has a lot to offer little ones, so when my husband and older boys were going on the bigger, more scarier rides/slides, my youngest didn’t have time to feel left out, especially in the Shipwreck Lagoon area.
Lockers are available for renting, and the also have a cafeteria area that serves the basic fast grill choices. They also rent out private cabana areas which include a shaded area, 2 lounge chairs, a table with 4 additional chairs, waiter service and a free locker rental. Accommodates up to 6 people.
We walked away from this water park experience with big smiles on our faces. It was a fun and relaxing experience. Even with the crowds, the entire visit was easy going and non-stressful. We would definitely go back.
The park closes for the season on September 5th, and right now they are offering a special where you buy a 2011 Season Pass and get a 2012 Season Pass for free!

I love Splashdown. We live about 40 minutes away in Westchester and usually make a trip up once a summer. I took my kids when they were younger and they still enjoy the park in their tween/early teen years. What’s nice is that they can now go off on their own while the adults can do some relaxing in the sun. The park is small enough that we can keep tabs on them, yet they feel free to run around without having Mom following after them. It’s nice that they’ve added more rides for older kids as well. And the wave pool never gets boring.
