Two People in Love, a NYC Sunset, and an East River Ferry Ride

There are few moments in life when I am overcome with pure, unadulterated joy and love. Consistently, only a couple of things offer such euphoria for me: my husband, my children, and my NYC, especially during the sunset hour.

I had the opportunity to take my husband on an impromptu date. I wanted to do something really New York, that best reflected our down-to-earth spirit, but was romantic at the same time.

I decided that a 7:40PM ride along the East River on a beautiful clear NYC evening would be the perfect fit. Taking the East River Ferry from beginning – on Pier 11 and Wall St. – to the very end at East 34th St in Midtown and back.

For some, riding the East River Ferry is just another way to commute from one point of the city to another. For others it’s a main attraction. Either way, it is one of the most relaxing, aw-inspiring ways to get around and if you go while the sun is setting, well, then it’s just gorgeous.

For us it was a way to connect with each other and with the city we love so much. On Fridays, the East River Ferry makes some extra stops in Brooklyn, past the world famous bridges and some favorite eateries.
