RedRover: New App That Helps Adventures with Friends Happen

Some people say we’re online too much, that no one picks up the phone and calls anymore. That our face-to-face is more and more limited.

Well, this may be true, but life is busy, and it isn’t often when you can get friends or family at a good time for a nice, long chat and  sometimes coordinating get togethers, especially impromptu ones, is even harder. Believe me, I’ve tried!

This is why, when I was asked to check out the new free app RedRover, I was intrigued by what it enables us to do. Not only does it facilitate impromptu play dates but it also helps me check out on any given day where my friends are, with or without their kids, what is happening nearby that might be fun to check out, and invite my friends to join me.

It might inspire me to go on a girl’s get together, a date outing, or yes, a meet up with my friends and their kids – those are my favorite play dates after all. I guess that’s what attracted me to it in the end: the fact that I can see what my adult friends are up to or let them see what I am up to, connect with them and meet up with them for “dates”, with or without kids in tow. Adventures are fun. Adventures with friends are even more so.

Here’s how it works:

Download the free app on your iPhone or Android.

Invite friends (and only those friends that you accept and invite in will ever be able to see your location).

Check the schedule on any given day and see what is going on near you.

Make a plan, selecting where you will be, when, what time, and even for how long. This page also allows you to title your plan (like for example “Free Concert at The Park) and give it a description (Band Title or performances). You can even add a photo.

Then you can share the info through RedRover and invite your friends to join you! When inviting friends, you can either select all your friends, or just one or two to come along.

Because this app was created by a busy mom…and we all know how busy moms think of everything (well, most moms of course….some of us need a little extra help), this app has features that only a mom would think about: where the heck are the cleanest bathrooms near by? As well as access to even more important information, such as Poison Control and 911.

Easy, quick, fun, and so accessible.

And RedRover is already giving back. Till July 28th RedRover is donating up to $20K to Christy Turlington’s charity, Every Mother Counts, to all app downloads.

Here’s a video from the founder of RedRover further describing the product.

Adventures are fun. Adventures with friends are even more so. It’s nice to know there’s a way to make the latter easier for us all.
