Allstate Good Hands Roadside Assistance for the Occasional Driver
My family and I love road trips. For families with small children, or with a lot of them which is our case, road trips provide a way of experiencing the immediate world around us, without the extra expenditure of plane tickets and the hassles that often come with flying.
Road trips also mean that, as long as you have a car, you can just pick up and go, allowing for more spontaneous adventures, that don’t always have to be too far away or more than a few hours long.
So much has happened this summer that we haven’t been able to take our yearly road trip adventure. Instead, we have been planning several small ones that we can’t wait to share with you!
But as most New Yorkers, we don’t have a car and rely on rentals for our trips. This also means we don’t have much when it comes to insurance. We often have to rely on whatever the rental company offers us, take on a company who’s guidelines we aren’t familiar with, nor can really say we rely much on in any way.
And when you are traveling with such precious cargo as your family, and to places sometimes new and unknown, or through roads you’ve never crossed, the last thing you want is to get stranded or not know what to do or who to contact in case of an accident. Believe me, it’s always on the back of my mind.
I was recently contacted by Allstate to check out a new roadside assistance program, Good Hands Roadside Assistance, which serves as a great safety coverage option for drivers and road trippers, even those who don’t own a car and just need such coverage once in awhile.
Pre-registering for Good Hands Roadside Assistance provides faster service at time of need on the road. Those that pre-register will also receive a welcome kit in the mail containing a wallet card, key fob and window cling with the phone number for roadside help. You can have a total of up to 5 drivers on your account.
Some of the benefits to Good Hands Roadside Assistance are:
- You only pay when you use it, there are no monthly fees
- Available to everyone in the U.S. – not just Allstate customers.
- Service covers any driver, any car, any time.
- You can download the Good HandsSM Roadside mobile app to your smartphone for faster, easier service.

So, if you are like us, occasional drivers and road trippers and are thinking of hitting the road with your friends or family, this program is a good one to keep in mind. Because the last thing you want to worry about when you set out on a road adventure is who you would call if you needed help in the middle of it.
