The Delicious Taste of Tribeca 2011
Who doesn’t love a good food festival? Especially one that features the top chefs and culinary master minds featured in the trendy neighborhood of Tribeca.
I previously announced that the Taste of Tribeca was happening on May 21, and when the day came around it brought with it sunshine, something which NYC had been lacking for 5 days straight!
Needless to say we, along with what seemed the rest of the city, ventured out and took in the rays. We headed over with the kiddos to all the festivities and indulged in all it had to offer. For $45 we got a total of 6 generous tastings at any booth of our choice.
The kids went directly for the sweets, but I was craving solely the savory, though neither disappointed. There were a total of 73 booths, many of them offering information to local resources or treats from local high-end eateries, many served by the chefs themselves.
I was delighted to again see the talented Chef Jehangir Mehta, and sample the Spice Kebob with Chipotle mayonnaise from his Tribeca eatery Mehtaphor. Yum!
There was also musical entertainment, sponsored by City Winery Swing Banjoist Cynthia Sayer & her Sparks Fly Band. And the little ones got to enjoy some scheduled fun in their very own Kid’s Zone, sponsored by 250 West Street.
What’s even better is that all proceeds from the event will ensure the continuation of arts and enrichment programs at local public schools PS 150 and PS 234.
We saw celebrity chefs and celebrity residents, tasted good food and had lots of fun. Sad was the moment when the Sold Out signs started popping up and we knew it was time to head home.
A neighborhood event that represented the best of a community coming together for a great cause. We can’t wait for the next Taste of Tribeca!
