While we wait, images from Red Rooster Harlem
It’s been a week now since the preview of Red Rooster, where I got to meet the fabulous chef Marcus Samuelsson and experience the flavors that we can expect from his new Harlem restaurant.
I wrote about the impression that evening left on me over at BlackAtlas.com in Red Rooster Harlem: Embracing Our Culinary Culture.
It is estimated now that the restaurant might open its doors early next month, and after having hosted a few events at the space on Lenox Avenue near 125th Street, I doubt that it will be difficult to keep this 100-seat restaurant bustling.
I can’t wait to return. In the meantime, I wanted to give you all a glimpse not only of that wonderful, fun evening, but also of the amazing dishes you can expect to enjoy while there.

Do you think we’re making a mistake by bringing kids (under age 7) to RR for a 5:30pm dinner? We usually do fine but Yelp reviews say it’s not kid-friendly… Thanks!
Hi Adina – The crowds may not be kid-friendly. When I first went I didn’t see high chairs, or any set up for kids. If your children are used to going to restaurants and understand the etiquette and protocol of being in a fine dining experience, they should be fine. Call ahead and find out if they have high chairs if you need one. Hope you get to enjoy it!
