Viewing of Tutankamum and The Golden Age of Pharaohs

Tutankamum and The Golden Age of Pharaohs is the latest exhibit to arrive to Discovery Times Square Exposition. It’s the first time in 30 years that the King Tut exhibit has been in New York City, but this time it includes more objects not previously seen during its last visit, as well as a few more that are making their debut from Egypt.

Though the exhibit opened in April of this year, and will be on display till January 2, of 2011, the reception remains strong. I went with my entire family, and even the little ones had their moments of absolute fascination and curiosity over the very many golden treasures on display.

Like most people, I have heard a thing or two about the discovery of the royal grave and even about the many speculations regarding the death of the young king, there is a lot more to learn during this exhibition, and new discoveries that have come to surface thanks to the advancement of technology.

The cost for tickets start at $29.50 for adults and $19.50 for children 4 to 12, however I would suggest checking out their pricing page to find packages that help you save money and might be a better fit. One part of the exhibit we missed because we thought it might be a bit much for the younger boys was the 3D film.

No matter what you think you know, or have read about King Tut, there really is nothing like seeing the many treasures so close and seeing the many images from the day of discovery to what the mummified body looks like today. It’s a fascinating exhibit, with so much to see that we found we didn’t get to see as much as we liked. Though our boys did seem to enjoy it, they were easily distracted by the next room, or exhibit, which didn’t always allow us to stay and read all the little details about each beautiful display.

That being said, if you have older kids especially, this is a wonderful way to get out of the cold and spend an afternoon. My 13 year old really enjoyed it, as did my husband and myself.

I am eager to check out the Discovery Times Square’s next exhibit: Pompeii The Exhibit.
