Juggling, Music, & Dance at Squirm Burpee Circus: A Vaudevillian Melodrama

Recently my two little ones and I headed over to our favorite theater of all time, The New Victory, to catch the performance of Squirm Burpee Circus: A Vaudevillian Melodrama.

The cast of four, made up of Mike the Handsome (Mike Huling), Dashing Dave (Dave Clay) and Lovely Little Lolo (Cole Schneider) and the dastardly Baron Vegan Von Hamburger (Jason Knauf) a mustachioed villain provided the audience, especially the little ones, a lot of excitement during this 75 minute (no intermission) performance.

From the moment you walk into the theater you see the signs that something pretty great was coming, and my kids curious right away. Then Baron Vegan Von Hamburger came out in his tricked-up “axle of evil” and my kids were immediately engrossed.

What followed was a family-friendly “vaudevillian melodrama” featuring song, comedy, juggling, dance, and the fight of the good guys against the bad guy, a love story, and more. Despite the fast-paced story line my little ones kept up pretty well, and loved both the interactive and high-tech elements to the show.

Only a few more shows left, as it closes on November 28. I think this up-beat, fun theatrical experience makes a great holiday activity for the entire family, and an awesome gift for those wanting to give their kids a true NYC theater experience that is totally kid-friendly.

For New Victory Members, tickets cost $25 (orchestra), $18 (mezzanine) and $9 (balcony). For Non-members, they cost $38 (orchestra), $28 (mezzanine) and $14 (balcony).
