Havana Central and In The Heights Cultural Immersion Giveaway

I will be heading back to NYC after a weekend of food and wine in Orlando, FL (more on that to come). And though I have had the most amazing time, one of the things that I felt was sadly lacking from this experience was the diversity of cultures, not only in the audience and participants, but also in the cooking.

These are the moments when I miss NYC the most, and when all those things that I might complain a bit about suddenly don’t seem a huge deal.

And it is also when my own cultural pride is most heightened. After a couple of days of eating many different things, all I could talk about was the amazing Latino cuisine, and the many dishes I was starting to miss.

I also talked much about my neighborhood of Washington Heights, highlighting in my conversation its people, its sounds, and its vibes. And all of a sudden, while experiencing the many culinary American traditions, I began to invite others to experience my own Latino culture should they ever want to meet in NYC.

There is talk among the many fabulous writers that I met that this is going to happen this Summer. But in the meantime, while I wait, I thought it would be wonderful to offer an evening of Latino cultural immersion to a lucky reader!
