Fun and Noise at Nickelodeon’s Story Time Live! Radio City Music Hall
I recently joined a group of bloggers on a complimentary visit to Radio City Music Hall to watch their latest, and greatest on stage performance, Nickelodeon’s Story Time Live! at Radio City Music Hall.
These wonderful performances are what my kids have known Radio City Music Hall for. When my now 12 year old was as young as little ones, we would venture to Radio City to watch Blue’s Clues and other fun shows. On this day I ventured out with my 3 and 4 year old.
Aside from the experience of trying to watch a show with two preschoolers being a lot more hectic than it used to be with just one child…and aside from the fact that they are far more demanding than my oldest used to be, the show itself is wonderful.
Story Time Live! Brings to life all the characters my little ones love watching on television and it continues the interactive participation that I like about the shows as well. Shows like Ni Hao Kai-Lan! The Backyardigans, The Wonder Pets, and Dora The Explorer, as well as favorites Moose A. Moose and his friend Zee where all there to entertain, educate, and animate the children in the audience.
And there were A LOT of kids. Know to be ready for it when you go. I had one little girl behind me playfully and loudly calling out, “Mommy! Mommy! Mommy!” and kicking my seat repeatedly throughout the entire show. And my 3 year old was no angel either, running away from me and being somewhat loud himself at times. I saw a lot of moms and dads with little ones walking the side halls.
This led me to the conclusion that even though the show is fun for the entire family, it might be best enjoyed by kids 4 and up. The tickets can be pricey especially for a large family such as mine, so you may want to make sure that it will be something your kids will sit through and enjoy. Both boys loved the show, but my 4 year old really took it all in and was glued to the seat the entire time. Truth is, rarely will little ones any younger than that sit through the entire show (about 1 hour and 30 minutes), which means neither will you, and it makes for a disruptive experience for not only you, but others who may be trying to watch the show.
Nickelodeon’s Story Time Live! will be in New York City till April 4th. Check their tour schedule to see if what other towns it will be in and when.
