EARTHROCKERS: A Concert For the Planet
There are tons of fun events going on this coming weekend in celebration of Earth Day. Check your favorite events listing sites as they would have more info, but I wanted to highlight one event that I know is going to be a total blast happening this Sunday at the Bowery Ballroom, a local beverage company on Delancey St..
They will be hosting Earthrockers: A Concert for the Planet. The concert will be headlined by rock bands Real Estate and Apollo Sunshine, who will perform their latest hits, while also featuring well known comedian hosts, Seth Herzog and Craig Baldo. The event is designed to educate both children and adults on the different ways to protect the planet, while at the same time being entertaining and fun.
A percentage of the proceeds will go to 1% for the Planet, an amazing environmental charity.
In addition to the live performances, the winning “Save the Snowflakes” submission will be featured. Created by Snow Beverages, the “Save the Snowflakes” contest invited elementary school children to draw a snowflake and explain how they can do their part to “Protect the Planet.” As part of the program, children were also taught about climate change, recycling, conservation, and encouraged to “think globally and act locally.” A one thousand dollar donation in the winner’s name is being made to the National Resources Defense Counsel and the winner will also receive $250 from Snow Beverages to fund a “green party” in their classroom celebrating Earth Day.
The concert will take place on Sunday, April 25, 2010, 1-3pm at The Bowery Ballroom: 6 Delancey Street New York, NY 10002
Adults must be accompanied by a child and vice versa. Ages 3-13 recommended. Tickets: $15 in advance; $20 at the door.
