Cupcakes for A Cause and How to Get Involved
Cupcakes For a Cause is a national campaign dedicated to raising funds for the CancerCare for Kids program which helps children affected by cancer. Now in its seventh year, Cupcakes For a Cause works with hundreds of bakeries across the nation and has raised $325,000 to date for the program.
CancerCare for Kids serves children and adolescents, typically between the ages of 4-18, who are coping with a cancer diagnosis – either their own or that of a close family member. Children have age-related specific needs and questions in terms of understanding the illness and the challenges that it presents, and the CancerCare for Kids program strives to address their concerns.
In addition to visiting a participating bakery, Cupcakes For a Cause also encourages people to organize and host their own bake sales to help raise funds for the program, and provides free, downloadable, flyers, bake sale tips, and step by step instructions for all those who want to participate.
This year’s Cupcakes Week is September 20 – 26, 2010. Please visit cupcakesforacause.org to learn more about the organization and how you can get involved.
