Stage Door Tour: Radio City Music Hall
After our fun and exciting All Access Tour at Madison Square Garden, my aunt and I got on a double-decker bus and made our way through New York City traffic and East to the gorgeous Radio City Music Hall.
Like Madison Square Garden, Radio City Music Hall has been a favorite of mine for fun family entertainment. Our last visit there was to catch the annual Radio City Christmas Spectacular with the world famous Rockettes. The Rockettes have performed the Christmas special at Radio City every year since 1933.
I told my aunt before we entered the main hall, “Take a deep breath, it’s pretty amazing.” And the truth is that Radio City Music Hall really is. So much so, that no matter how many times I have been there, it never fails to give me a sense of awe each time. The Stage Door Tour brings you so much closer to the beauty, history, and behind-the-scenes of this iconic place.
Our tour was pretty special, we got to see a lot more than I had seen even at previous tours. We found out that the best seat in the house isn’t necessarily the most expensive, and as an exclusive, unique treat, we had lunch in what were the private dining and living room quarters of “Roxy” Rothafel. The lunch part was unique to our experience, but I believe that part of the tour is included for all who participate.
Again, this is an experience better had than written. Suffice to say that it was a wonderful way to end her first day here in New York City. The cold, wet snow outside failed to erase the smile off my aunt’s face, and I believe it would do the same for anyone visiting as well.
The Stage Door Tours depart approximately every half-hour from 11a.m to 3p.m daily. Same day tickets may be purchased at the Radio City Music Hall Avenue Store (Jan-Oct) or the 51st Street Tour Entrance (Nov – Dec.) .Tickets for future tours may be purchased at the Radio City Music Hall or Madison Square Garden box offices, all Ticketmaster outlets, or call Ticketmaster at (866) 858-0008.Tickets are priced at $19.25 for adults, $15 for senior citizens, and $12.50 for children under 12.
