Atlantis Kids Adventure: Fun For The Young Traveler
We are back in New York City after a few days spent discovering all there is to do at Atlantis Paradise Island, Bahamas. One of the highlights of this trip, and the main reason for coming, was to experience the new 8,000-square-feet Atlantis Kids Adventure (AKA), a new kids club that pushes the limits of what we parents and children have seen in a resort’s kids club before.
After enjoying an amazing brunch, and the entertainment provided by local school band and dance group, we were greeted into AKA.
This club, exclusive for kids ages (potty trained) 3-12 (no adults allowed) is made up of colorful rooms, each providing kids a different, interactive experience. Incorporated cutting edge technology for both entertainment and educational value are offered in various activities found throughout AKA.
Our children were invited to experience AKA, and though no adults are normally allowed, we parents were allowed to participate with them.
My 12 year old absolutely loved the Gaming Room, where he had access to 12 game stations including Xbox 360, Playstation 3 and a Wii Tree. Kids can challenge other kids at the The Palm in Dubai or any other Kerzner International’s properties on Guitar Hero as well. My son loved Rock Band. It was really cool when he excitedly asked me to join him as a singer in the game…not sure how well I did, but according to him I was “awesome”.
The kids have access to computers, games, even a full kitchen for the Culinary Adventure, where kids participate in 90-minute sessions of tasting, mixing ingredients, and learning about cooking temperatures.
No room was spared attention to detail. From the grocery store, to the tree house, to theater, to the arts and crafts room, just to name a few (and not including the outside activities that are also offered to young guests), the AKA was definitely a favorite of many of the kids joining us on this trip. A few of the other parents said that their kids didn’t want to leave and asked to return the next day.
My absolute favorite place is the girl’s bathroom. I know, sounds weird. But this bathroom is pretty special. With three stalls, each decorated to a different theme (jungle, princess, and sports) and including music to further compliment them. I used the “Princess” stall, and sat on a toilet, with a chandelier overhead, while listening to the theme to “The Little Mermaid”.
Admission into AKA is additional. The price is about $45 for half a day, $90 for full day. Atlantis Kids Adventure offers evening activities as well, including movies, karaoke, musical games, storytelling, and opportunities to play in the gaming room. An additional fee of $60 applies for the evening hours.
Disclosure: This adventure was fully sponsored by Atlantis, Jet Blue, Lego. However, the views and opinions shared in this post are strictly my own.
