The Candy Shoppe: Papabubble x Cappellini Sweetening NYC

Cappellini, the Italian giant in all that is contemporary, unique, and beautiful in furniture design is most celebrated by New Yorkers for the experience that is visiting their flagship store in Soho. The store’s sleek design, complimented by the art pieces available to us from famous international giants such as Jasper Morrison, Tom Dixon, Marc Newson, Marcel Wanders, Shiro Kuramata, Dror Benshetrit, among others, is a sensory experience to say the least, and for me, a dreamer’s wonderland of what my home should look like.

But now, this sweet experience is further heightened by the new holiday installation “The Candy Shoppe: Papabubble x Cappellini” in place from now till January 4. Genius-designer-rock stars and curators, Tobias Wong and Josee Lepage, came up with the concept of having artisanal candy makers Papabubble create the holiday shoppe and place it front and center inside the Cappellini store.

I attended the opening last week with my 3 year old, whose eyes wondered from sweets to sweets, all beautifully displayed harmoniously among the acrylic masterpieces throughout.

The limited-edition candies, made by Fiona Ryan and Chris Grassi, Papabubble’s co-owners, are a continuation of contemporary design and of the Cappellini cherry red signature as seen throughout the store.

Papabubble is awesome in this way.  If you’ve ever visited their Broome St. location and have watched the candies being made, it is clear to see that these aren’t just yummy-yummy gumdrops, but a serious work of art…and if you don’t believe me, take advantage of their free samples and you will see. Truly delish.

It’s not your everyday candy store, a bit pricey yes, but that’s also what makes them such a wonderful gift for any ocassion. And now, with the Candy Shoppe in Cappellini, you have the opportunity to take it to the next level of sweets giving.

Or if you wish, place your order through Papabubble. They ship orders directly from the shop for $50 and up for the holiday season. Orders can be placed by phone 212.966.2599 or via email at fiona@papabubble.com. They will happily recreate custom items featured at The Candy Shoppe such as the awesome candy bowls and knots now on display at Cappellini.

New York City just got a little sweeter.
