The Answering Service
Today Saturday has been a particularly frustrating day as I deal with the annoyances of my ex-husband who came to pick up my son for the weekend.
After getting a couple of text messages from my son’s angry football coach that the game my son plays defense on had started and he had not yet arrived, I felt suddenly at wits end.
So I call my friend and confident, Jessie, for some venting.
We came up with a new service that I believe should be provided to all mothers standing in my shoes. An answering service that we could activate when the Ex/current spouse/child fails in their responsibilities and it is you that gets all the angry, annoyed, frustrated calls for answers and solutions.
Not sure yet what we would call it, but it would go something like this:
“Ring! Ring!”

Answering service: “Hello, you’ve reached Mom. There are no Mom services available right now to answer your call. If this is an emergency, please contact Daddy, or the next available person responsible. Thank you for calling. Goodbye.”
Click.
Join me as I open a bottle of wine and toast to Life’s Adventures. Cheers!

Absolutely brilliant!! Sign me up!
I don’t have children yet, but I like the idea. Mine would go like this.
“Hi, you’ve reached your good daughter. I did not do anything wrong, nor am I responsible for the other kids’ problems. Please leave a message and I’ll forward it along to the person you’re actually angry with”
It is the best way to ‘disconnect’from the kids and the husband that are always referring the kids back to mama =)
Tiasha – LMAO!!
“Hi, you’ve reached your daughter. No, I have not spoken to my brothers nor their children. Leave a message and I’ll be sure and share the guilt you’ve decided to bestow on me with the person responsible for it. Oh, and I’ll be sure and tell them to call you too.”
You have yourself a winner! Too bad the service couldn’t also include a call forwarding feature, so all the irate calls would automatically switch to the appropriate party.
LOL! Awesome option Tara…might have seriously consider that one!
