Getting Ready for Halloween!
My apartment is abuzz this week! Halloween, right around the corner…actually, up the road at this point!
My little ones are just itching to get into their costumes and going Trick-or-Treating. Last year, we went around the neighborhood at the local businesses and they were all handing out candy. Then we participated in a neighborhood parade near the small neighborhood park and had pizza afterwards. It was all very low key and very nice. Since I wasn’t even blogging around this time last year, I thought I would walk down memory lane and give you a glimpse of all the fun we had!
My then 11 year old even had fun, though he wish he had gotten as much candy as he did when we lived in the suburbs of Wisconsin!
These were our costumes in 2008:

It was so funny to see them walking around, and I also remember it being a nice day, kind of like it has been this week so far, a bit warmer and comfortable for the kids to go around collecting candy.
Being that we have little ones, we don’t really venture down to the Village for the Annual Halloween Parade. Tons of fun for sure, but the kids wouldn’t last.
But since Halloween is on a Saturday this year, the events and possibilities for families like ours are endless! Just to name a few:
There’s the party at El Museo de Barrio called Dia de Los Muertos (free for all!)
The Halloween celebrations at NY Aquarium, with “Halloween at The A-Scarium“, at The Bronx Zoo with “Boo at The Zoo“. There’s also a huge celebrations and trick-or-treating at The American Museum of Natural History, Children’s Museum, Madame Tussaud’s Wax Museum (for older kids and adults) and The Intrepid…all places we’ve had fun Adventures at and really love! There’s even tons to do at Central Park with the little ones!
We haven’t a clue yet, what we will do! Thus is the beauty of living in New York City, but we know whatever it is it will be fun! And we can’t wait to share our Adventures with you so make sure to check back for all the details!
For listings of other activities and things going on in the city check out Time Out New York Kids or Mommy Poppins. We wish you all a safe Halloween and check back in with me and let me know what you did and how it went!
Happy Spooky Adventures!!
