Nominated for Best Latina Blogger-NY!
I recently found out that I have been nominated for an award as Best Latina Blogger-NY, by my peers and members of the Latinos in Social Media network (LatISM).
I knew that LatISM was having an award ceremony as part of their two-day conference here in New York, the first of its kind actually. I was already excited about the conference as it is the first time our community of Latinos, made up of Social Media professionals has organized in this way with bloggers, twitter-ers, social media gurus, marketing and public relations experts, among others, and taken the online world by storm. I am still smiling about being asked to speak at the conference, and was so looking forward to seeing my friends and colleagues, as well as meeting others.
And then I got the direct message on twitter:
“I voted for you for the Latism award! I hope you win! Good luck!“
I was waking up from a nap, and was more than a bit confused…until I saw my name among 3 others, great writers and bloggers in their own right, as being nominated.
Positive recognition is always a bit surreal. I am still always touched by every comment left by a reader, or every tweet sent by a follower/friend, or every compliment or positive comment received at events. I am humbled and touched, always beyond belief, as being acknowledged and praised for doing something I love is about the greatest gift anyone can give, in my opinion.
And, I think that all the nominees are amazing and already winners. We were chosen by our peers and others as the best. I, the travel and lifestyle writer, share the nomination with a gifted writer and literary artist, a successful fashion and entertainment writer, and a technology guru and media lover. And though we are all Latinos, we are also very different; our styles and voices indicative not only of the individual diversity among us as individuals, but among us as a group and culture. It is perfect.
So, though the winner won’t be announced till this coming Thursday, October 1, I wanted to say Thank You to all those who voted for my nomination, who read my blog, who follow me on twitter, and who support and encourage me every day. And mostly to those behind and in front of the Latinos in Social Media. I am honored and grateful for the recognition, and thrilled to be a part of such an amazing group of Latinos.
Good Luck to all my fellow nominees, I look forward to seeing you Thursday and celebrating with you all our successes!
