Gatherings with Blogger Friends
If there’s anything that NYCity Mama loves equally as much as enjoying NYC with her family it would be enjoying NYC with her friends. These past few weeks have been a chuck full of days dedicated to meeting up with blogger friends, old and new, during playdates, brunch, happy hour, dinner.
She is happy that friends came out and met her and each other, and here are some photos to give a glimpse of those fun moments:
Playdate in Westchester with Elisa, from Diary of an Unlikely Housewife and her two beautiful daughters. Mama loves Elisa. She’s an awesome, full of life, Italian woman, whom she met in person only this summer, but yet from the moment of their first embrace it seemed that they had known each other for years. During their gathering they headed to a beautiful playground in Westchester near her home and set up a picnic while their kids played. They were together for hours, but really it didn’t seem like enough time. Elisa is moving back to Zurich this year, which means Mama now has to make plans to visit her there, because she is that special to her.

Brunch on the Upper West Side at Mama’s favorite French Roast, with a group of bloggers from NYC Moms Blog was probably the most casual, and yet the most inspiring gathering Mama has had with a group of female bloggers. Individually Mama has been fortunate in really connecting with her peers, but as a group it sometimes becomes more difficult as everyone is usually busy networking, or chatting with others. Mama wrote about it here how great the gathering was and can’t wait to meet up with these awesome ladies again…I mean really, how bad can things be when the conversation is taking place over scrambled eggs, buttered bread, and coffee, all while simultaneously twittering? Lovely is the word that pops to mind when she thinks of every single one of these ladies which included the authors of the blogs: Filming in Brooklyn, Coast to Coast Mom, Connect with Your Teens, and Rodskog Change Consulting.

Twitting Fanatics!
Playdate in Fort Tryon Park with her darling BFF, Jen of Babyrific and her cute little boy J. J. also happens to be Mama’s little boys “best fwend” so she’s been told, so the relationship is perfect. They started the day having a quick breakfast at Mama’s apt and then strolling up to the Ft. Tryon letting the kids enjoy the flowers in Heather’s Garden and running around discovering the different little areas at the top of steps and around the bends. They had spent time in the playground beforehand, so it was a great way for the Moms to chat and the boys to play. Truly wonderful.

Happy Hour with some blogging Dads, her husband, and her darling friend from Alphamom. Though Mama had already met Eric, from Makes Me Wanna Holler when she interviewed him for one of the Celebrating Dad articles, she had never met George from George’s Blog or Jason from Out-numbered. George is a sweet blogging dad from NJ, and Jason one of the funniest bloggers Mama has read (he was also featured in one of the Celebrating Dad articles here).
Mama got there first and had the best Mojito. The company was fun, the food was good, and the drinks…well, let’s just say, there isn’t much about Mama these friends don’t know! Before they new it it was almost 11:00pm. Mama didn’t want to leave, but alas babysitters, kids, husbands, and wives were waiting and for many, so was work the next day. It was like getting together with her brothers and a sister (with exception of her husband of course): a lot of teasing, a lot of laughter, and a really great time. Thanks to Jason for introducing us to one of his fav hang outs Cafe 50 West, and for being such a gracious host. (Stay tuned for an upcoming karaoke challenge between him and NYCity Mama!)
