The Jimmies/92Y Tribeca, NY
Darn Daylight Savings Time! NYCity Mama was really looking forward to this morning not being a rushed morning for her. She had discussed with her husband the importance of getting everyone together on time so that they could make their way to Tribeca early. But, she forgot about Daylight Savings Time, and the fact that they would loose an hour. Dang it!
So they rushed through breakfast, got dressed and took the car downtown. Hurried and excited. They were on their way to the 92YTribeca, the arts and entertainment venue located on 200 Husdon St., for their latest B.Y.O.K. concert featuring The Jimmies.

The Jimmies, whose CD “Make Your Own Someday” won the 2009 Oppenheim Portfolio “Best Toy of The Year Award” and The Parent’s Choice Award , just to name a couple, are such a fabulous indie rock band that it is easy to leave the whole “kid-focused” part out of the equation. The creative, fun, sophisticated sounds and lyrics appeal to both Mama’s little ones, as well as her and her husband. It is one of those “kids” bands that are a pleasure to listen to, watch, and dance to, no matter what age.

When Mama’s little ones weren’t running in and out of the concert hall (because she believes she has the most hyperactive boys EVER), they were mesmerized by lead singer, Ashley’s, AMAZING voice and the band’s infectious energy on stage. It was so fun to see children as small as 1 to as old as 5 or 6 clapping, shaking, and just really getting into the show. Mama believes that had this been individual family living rooms, the adults would’ve been shaking their stuff up there as well and a few did, including Mama.

Everything from helping Soaper The Scaredy-Bot to not feel scared, to learning Dan’s (drummer) dance moves, to enjoying the unforgettable 80’s hits towards the end, makes a concert from The Jimmies a MUST NOT MISS family event.

Even their “slow song”, Taddy, is one that inspires Mama to sing along with her boys!
This is the last scheduled performance for The Jimmies in NYC till June 30th, when they will perform as part of Madison Square Park Kids Concert Series, in Madison Square Park. Mama and her crew will be there, and she hopes many others, with or without kiddos can go. She promises it will be a great time!

The concert was awesome! I’m a total The Jimmies fan now, and will see you at Madison Square Park this summer for sure!
It certainly sounds like you had a great time. I love it when a show appeals to us and our children. I wonder if they will be touring in the South East?
Another great review, so sorry I couldn’t make it myself. My kids would have had a blast. If you know someone you think would like a copy of the CD, send them over to http://www.kidsstuffworld.com > we’ve got a Jimmies giveaway going on.
